The Barns of Ventura County
I photographed all of the barns in Ventura County, California, so that the generations to come will see what it was like at the beginning of the 20th century.
Some of my reasons:
A long time ago in what is now Ventura County, buildings were built to house much of the equipment used for crops grown on the Oxnard Plain.
Now many of these barns are gone, many just fell down due to age (most are over 100 years old) weather, fire, new construction of homes, whatever the reason, the number of barns is quickly going down. These majestic buildings will soon be gone forever. I've tried to photograph all of the barns so that the children of many of the farm families will know what it was like when their parents, grandparents and great grandparents were growing up in beautiful Ventura county.
